This Cookie Policy explains how AdvertMe Promotions Ltd, trading as AdvertMe (“we”, “us” or “our”), uses cookies and similar technologies on advertme.ie. Read it together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They can remember choices, support website functions and measure how visitors use a site. Similar technologies, such as local storage, may perform related functions.
Session cookies normally expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain until their expiry date or until you delete them. First-party cookies are set for the website you visit; third-party cookies are associated with another provider’s domain. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies, although Google processes the resulting analytics information.
2. Why cookies are used
Strictly necessary functions
Essential cookies or storage may be used where needed to provide a function you request, protect the website or remember your cookie choices. Any exemption from consent applies only to storage that is strictly necessary for the requested function, rather than optional measurement or marketing.
The consent controls identify any preference-storage cookies used to remember your choice, together with their names and duration.
Optional analytics
With your consent, we use Google Analytics to measure website traffic and interactions. This helps us understand which pages are useful, how visitors find the website and where we can improve navigation and content.
Analytics may involve pseudonymous identifiers, page views, referral information, interactions, approximate location and browser or device details. We do not intentionally include names, email addresses, telephone numbers or contact-form messages in analytics data.
Analytics is optional. It must remain disabled unless you accept the analytics category. Rejecting analytics does not prevent you from browsing our services or submitting an enquiry.
3. Google Analytics cookies
The following table describes the standard Google Analytics 4 cookies used when analytics is enabled:
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Google default lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics, set for our website | Distinguishes browsers using a pseudonymous identifier for usage measurement. | Up to 2 years. |
_ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics, set for our website | Maintains session information for the relevant Analytics configuration. The suffix varies by configuration. | Up to 2 years. |
These are Google’s default lifetimes. The configured lifetime or your browser’s restrictions may make them shorter. Expiry may be updated on a return visit, subject to the applicable settings and your consent choices.
A cookie’s lifetime is different from how long analytics records are retained after collection. Our Privacy Policy explains the separate retention considerations.
Information is also available in Google’s cookie documentation and Privacy Policy.
4. Google Search Console
We use Google Search Console to review our website’s appearance and performance in Google Search, including impressions, clicks, queries and indexing information. Search Console itself does not set analytics cookies on visitors’ devices and does not identify individual search users to us.
5. Choosing and changing your preferences
The cookie banner allows you to accept or reject optional analytics. Strictly necessary storage, where applicable, is handled separately because it supports the requested function.
You can change or withdraw your analytics consent at any time through the Cookie Settings control in the banner or website footer. Withdrawing consent stops future consent-based analytics collection; it does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful.
Your choice applies to the browser and device on which you make it. If you switch devices, use another browser or delete the storage that remembers your choice, you may need to choose again.
You can also use your browser settings to view, delete or block cookies. Blocking all cookies may affect functions or remove saved preferences. Deleting cookies alone is not a substitute for withdrawing consent through Cookie Settings, because consented cookies may otherwise be set again on a later visit.
6. External services
When you follow a link to WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram or another external service, that provider’s cookie and privacy policies apply to your use of its service. Google may process analytics information outside the European Economic Area; see the international-transfers section of our Privacy Policy.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the technologies, providers or purposes used on the website change. Where a change requires fresh consent, we will request it before activating the affected optional technology.
